Art by Andy Mast
AN EXHIBITION BY ANDY MAST
at Fremont Center for the Arts
Andy Mast is a contemporary American pencil artist known for his evocative graphite drawings, especially of horses and rural western life.
Raised in a conservative Amish community in southern Illinois, his simple upbringing and faith deeply influence his work.
Mast works almost exclusively in pencil (graphite), aiming to evoke emotional, spiritual, or healing responses in his audience. His subjects are drawn from life—horses, animals, and rural scenes—which he renders with deep detail, light, and contrast.
He has won awards at major western‑art exhibitions (such as the Western Spirit Art Show) and has been featured in publications like Western Art Collector and Cowboys & Indians. He lives and works in Westcliffe, Colorado, operating a gallery and studio there.
